Well, I’m not very sure whether we would want a title in the New Seven Wonders of Nature ranks because it might ultimately not be the best news for what it’s intended - Nature. Because as soon as Cox’s Bazaar (missing an ‘a’ hence spelled Cox’s Bazar on the New Seven Wonders of Nature website) becomes one of the natural wonders, tourists are going to flock. Being Bangladesh, we all know what’s next.
On the other hand, I think it would be a good thing for the Sunderbans to win a place as a natural wonder. The international attention would be good for the forest as it recuperates from Sidr; it might even create some pressure on the government to stop deforestation in the area and promote conservation.
Why the Ganges is being promoted as a natural wonder, I’m not sure. But I’m not exactly complaining. If we have a chance to have three entries in the list of the Seven Wonders of Nature, more power to us ;).
Ok, as for the efforts to get more vote: they’re going GREAT I have to say as a third party observer. People seem very excited about it, and the blogosphere has been doing it’s share of the deal to promote awareness. Even Facebook has been utilized to score votes…the result being all three entries from Bangladesh are at the TOP!!! YUP!!!
1. Cox’s Bazaar
2. Sunderbans
3. Ganges
You can see the latest rankings here.
I’m guessing the toughest competition is likely to come from Mount Everest, currently at No 4. and the coco’s island which has moved up the list….Others likely to rise are the Niagara Falls (at No 15) and Mount Fuji ( No 14)…Well, we gotta wait and see, no?

It’s so beautiful that I can’t express my feeling about the beauty of nature I’m really very glad to see the beauty.
